Apple iPad vs. RIM PlayBook Could Be Real Title Fight - Desktops and Notebooks from eWeek

The iPad "war" is heating up. So far, Toshiba, Samsung, Dell, HP, and Blackberry (RIM) all have announced their own entries into the "Pad" domain. Which one will win? Well, the one that can replicate the usefulness of the Apple ecosystem: that is, have music, tv/movies, podcasts, apps, and books to boot for their content. There might be room for many players, but somehow it seems to me that some standardization wrt the content would have to appear sooner or later. I am not saying that the apps can be standardized -- they can, but only to the extent that they share a common operating system. the hardware is clearly becoming a commodity item. This is not a real title fight - there will be several. However, I do not think anyone in the short term can unseat Apple and the iPad from its leadership position.
